Taylor Hastings
Fiduciary Litigation Attorney
Taylor understands that in North Carolina fiduciary litigation, every case begins with a real voice and a high-stakes story. Whether it is a breach of fiduciary duty, a complex trust dispute, or a contested estate, Taylor knows that clarity anchors communication and understanding drives strategy. He builds every legal step on these foundations because the law can feel sharp and impersonal until an advocate slows down, listens, and makes the process intelligible and human.
A Legacy of Service and North Carolina Roots
Growing up in Chapel Hill, Taylor developed a deep sense of duty that guided his academic path. After earning his degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Taylor attended William & Mary’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law, one of the nation’s oldest and most respected institutions.
Returning home to serve his community, he passed the North Carolina Bar in 2014. Since then, he has built a robust litigation practice spanning North Carolina District, Superior, and Appellate courts, as well as federal jurisdictions.
Strategic Litigation and Fiduciary Advocacy
Taylor treats fiduciary litigation as both a craft and a calling. He prepares every case as if it will stand in open court, bringing a calm, disciplined focus to probate disputes, power of attorney abuse cases, and beneficiary rights claims.
However, Taylor does not seek conflict for sport. He uses meticulous preparation as leverage and seasoned judgment as direction. He pushes forward when a trial serves the client’s best interest and negotiates with purpose when mediation or a private resolution better protects a client’s time, cost, and peace of mind. For Taylor, listening is what enables him to tell the difference between a case that needs a gavel and one that needs a handshake.
A Steady Hand in High-Pressure Disputes
Clients across North Carolina describe Taylor as steady, responsive, and clear-eyed, especially when emotions strain under the weight of estate litigation. He listens without interruption, allowing clients to reach the end of their thoughts before distilling complex NC fiduciary law into actionable advice.
Whether navigating the United States District Courts or local probate offices, Taylor thinks several moves ahead. He turns an intimidating legal process into a navigable path forward, leading toward hard-won, sensible resolutions.
Personal Commitment and Professional Standing
Taylor stays deeply connected to the North Carolina community that shaped his values. Outside of the courtroom, he is a devoted husband and proud “girl dad”—roles that keep his ego in check and his perspective grounded.
When you choose Taylor and the Fiduciary Litigation Group, you aren’t just hiring a lawyer; you are partnering with a disciplined advocate who believes that good lawyering begins with attention.

The Fiduciary Litigation Group Approach: Strategy and Mediation
We recognize that the best outcome in trust litigation is often one that preserves family relationships.
As part of our strategic advocacy, we frequently utilize mediation to reach creative settlements that avoid the public nature of a trial. However, we built our reputation on being uncompromising in the face of injustice. If the other side refuses to act reasonably, our deep experience in North Carolina courts becomes your greatest asset.
